Review of You're Not You (2014) by Lauren L — 02 Dec 2015
"You're Not You" beautifully illustrates the pain of a disease like ALS. This film shows how ALS breaks who you are by testing your ability to communicate without clear speech, how it makes its victims wish they were gone because they feel like a bother to everyone, and most importantly sheds light on how the degenerative disease will most likely end in an evitable painful death that no one can ever stop.
"You're Not You" perfectly juxtaposes the idea that while this disease psychically pulls apart the majority of relationships, it strengthens the genuine ones. I would recommend this movie to anyone who has ever had a family member or friend with a degenerative disease.
