Review of You're Next (2013) by Thomas M — 11 Mar 2014
In a mixture of slasher stereotypes, the "final girl" doesn't wait to be the last survivor and instead starts fighting back from the word go, but the story needed more than that to stay interesting. Thankfully, the methods of death are various and gory, sustaining me through the "twist" that leads to a predictable countdown of who will die and when.
The synth soundtrack is extremely effective and I wish there was more of it instead of the weak-kneed "Looking For The Magic" from 1977 (rock on horror fans, but next time bring your keytars for the full show).
