Review of You're Next (2013) by Ashley V — 14 Apr 2014

Raw, Gritty, Nasty, Bloody and suspenceful You're Next is one of the most terrifying and the best Horror film ever made and it also gives Home Invasion Thrillers a fresh and new look. You're Next is about the Davison family who gets attacked by a group of masked psychopaths during their dinner party but soon the killers discover that one of the family members is the most talented person in killing people and knows how to defend in a house.

For the most part I love this movie and it shows a huge amount of improvements over most Home Invasion Thrillers like The Strangers, The Purge or Panic Room and everything in this movie is pure perfect.

What I like about this movie is that the film is well paced from start to finish. The build up is kinda slow but not too slow its just slow first until it becomes fast paced in several parts and Adam Wingard knows how to keep the audiences looking in the screen without tiring or boring them over.

The other things I like about this movie is that the film is extremely suspenceful and the suspense is so overload in this movie and there are loads of superb and unexpected scenes in the film(Tariq's death and the crazy wire by the door scene)plus the movie is brutal.

Super brutal I mean it and the whole movie is full of kills that are extreme, brutal and very gory as well and there are loads of super brutal and gory kills in the movie that are disgusting and very disturbing(The blender on the head kill, Loads of nasty throat cuts, The knife to the head and the nail on the foot)and I love the gore scenes in this film a lot.

Now the acting is great and all of the casts did an amazing job with their performances in the film especially the beautiful and gorgeous Sharni Vinson and all of the casts did a very good job with their performances in the film so far.

Director Adam Wingard did a very good job with his work on the film a lot and he really shows proof that he is a talented Horror director and I have to say he did a superb job in making this movie and he is one of the best Horror directors since James Wan and Fede Alvarez.

The same can be said to Simon Barrett who's terrifying screenplay made the film come to life thanks to the flawless directing of Director Adam Wingard and both of these boys made me proud and these two did a very good job with their work on the film so far.

Overall You're Next is an amazing Home Invasion Horror Thriller that gives the Home Invasion genre a new twist and a fresh look. This movie gets a 10/10.
