Review of You're Next (2013) by John T — 24 Jun 2014
This is not a bad story. Definitely engaging till the end. This is probably the first time I have actually seen a cellphone jammer used in a plot. So I looked it up and indeed all cellphones can be denied service to the nearby towers.
So that was a good story element to isolate the victims. Other parts of the movie are not so believable. Driving a knife or a screwdriver deep into a human skull is probably actually hard to do. Best to go for the eyes and neck when being attacked.
I really thought this movie was going to be about animal rights activists attacking humans. That would have probably been a better angle to explain why the attackers were all wearing animal masks. Furthermore, nobody was using a gun even though there were no neighbors around.
But out of all the people in the house, nobody had a pistol for self defense? Hard to believe that. It is safe to say that if the survivor(s) explained the situation truthfully to the police, the survivor(s) would be exonerated.
All in all, this movie was worth my time.
