Review of Young Sherlock Holmes (1985) by Stuart M — 05 Jun 2013
Rather boring unfortunately. When I heard of a Spielberg-produced film about a young Holmes and Watson complete with supernatural elements I was rather excited, expecting a cheesy '80s (no, the other '80s) kids flick with a bit more character.
Instead what we get feels like a Harry Potter knockoff without the magic, despite being made 15 years before Harry Potter even came out. Watson even looks like Potter, complete with dark hair and glasses.
And there's even a scar involved. The 'supernatural elements' are the hallucinations caused by some sort of drug. I've wanted to see this since I was a kid, but it was never in the video stores.
Now I know why.
