Review of Young People Fucking (2007) by Tara W — 23 Jun 2008
Gero's organic and unpretentious sex comedy, despite its raw title and a handful of semi-controversies, shows a surprising sweetness. Indeed, Young People Fucking refuses to shock for the sake of shocking and never drowns in emotional content.
Despite the fact that its portrayal of desire versus sexual urges is, all in all, a rather simplistic take that lacks both depth and a narrative pulse, the end result is a seriously funny comedy whose decision to be unambitious actually renders it much, much more pleasant to watch.
And you gotta love those spicy dialogues, especially when it's spat out by such a photogenic cast that not only wields very good acting chops but also spends most of their screentime half-naked. And, oh, it's not porn.
Not at all.
