Review of Young People Fucking (2007) by Alexander K — 25 Apr 2009

I really liked this movie but had to give it three stars because some of the story lines just didn't hold up and probably should have been cut from the film entirely. They look all the more out of place against the story lines that shine.

I really like Carly Pope but was just bored by her having sex with her best friend. The Kristin Booth story about a long time couple trying to get it on really only got good when she brings out a strap on and suggests some role reversal.

One of the things about this movie is that it really needed to push the boundaries a lot more (despite what our friends in the Conservative party might think.) With teen sex films like American Pie et al, the bar has been set very high (or low) for what can be seen and talked about on screen.

Where shitting on someone's chest and anal beads are the norm in US comedy now, this felt a little like Canadians discovering how to get their freak on for the first time. A great title though and one that has proven to attract attention.
