Review of Young People Fucking (2007) by Tim D — 11 Aug 2009

A difficult movie to review. I really liked it. I'd label it as "endearingly raunchy" but it was considerably less crude than Zach and Miri, which I might label the same way. I think I liked it most because, despite the movie being mostly about casual sex (with one exception) it really delved into the reasons behind and around the tryst, and the after effects. It was very funny, sometimes in an awkward way, other times more genuinely. The characters were all great and very believable, for the most part (with relative unknown actors). And the script and plot progression (through 5 acts) was fantastic.

There were several reasons this movie was difficult to review (I rewrote this twice). For one, it is difficult to recommend a movie with such a title (I considered not even posting this for that reason). But the major reason is that it really feels like you are getting a glimpse into the very intimate moments of real people. I can't really imagine watching this movie with anyone else, and even talking about it seems like something akin to lewd gossip or somesuch.
