Review of Young People Fucking (2007) by Vinny N — 24 Jul 2010
A movie about sex that rubbed me in all the right places. I actually didn't know the long title, only YPF, when renting, and I must say the manner of the introduction a few minutes into the film is pretty badass.
At first, I was a little worried about the reality of the situations. A false relationship movie is a complete waste of time. As the movie progressed, things became a little more real, and the final scenes for each couple were actually quite impressive and far more thoughtful than one might expect given the title of the movie.
Dialogue is what carries the movie. It's just five different relationships (exes, friends, roommates, married, and first date) in one situation, and the dialogue makes it entertaining. The stories do become surprisingly good in each case, with the exes really pulling some weight. Their final scene is quite good.
As per usual, some will be offended by the mere title of the movie. It's a Canadian film or I'm sure could not even have that title (we did change Zach and Miri Make a Porno to just Zach and Miri...pathetic). There is some sex, but mostly it's nice sex (and what a casting job on the actresses). More than that, it's actually a decent look at human behavior. Given that nice touch, I was impressed with the artistic side of the movie. The hot chicks along the way certainly didn't hurt.
