Review of Young Ones (2014) by Matthew F. J — 06 Apr 2015
This dystopian film is actually very interesting in it's narration and the choices made by director Jake Paltrow to keep this story low key and as rough and raw as possible. This is an excellent little film that has a lot of qualities including a great cast, a good story and some pretty interesting robots.
It's an unusual film in it's tone and direction but if you are willing to tag along for the ride, I bet you may very well enjoy it a lot, like I did. Dry and simple, this film is like the harsh landscape in which it takes place but the beautiful scenery and cinematography add a lot to this film.
Definitely different from 99 percent of all the films we get to watch these days, which in itself is almost a tour de force and justify the three stars, this film manages to be both interesting and gripping.
Thumbs up mister Paltrow.
