Review of Young Guns (1988) by Stan M — 26 Dec 2012
I don't think I had seen this since 1989 or 1990 so I just had a vague recollection of it. Caught it one morning on TBS and thought it was fairly good. Sure, it feels like a comic-book approach to the story of Billy the Kid, but it was done fairly well.
Emilio Estevez wasn't excellent, but he was adequate for the role. IMO, it is Kiefer Sutherland the one that steals the show. Good to see veteran actors like Jack Palance, Terrence Stamp, and Terry O'Quinn as well.
All in all, it isn't a spectacular film, but I thought it was effective in what it sets out to do. Or maybe it was the low expectations of a Saturday morning? I don't know, I was entertained.
