Review of Young Frankenstein (1974) by Liam D — 25 Mar 2010
Young Frankenstein was always a movie that was highly recomended for me from others, but for some reason never really had the intrest of watching. It wasn't until I got it on DVD for Christmas that I decided to give it a chance and I was still very reluctant. However Young Frankenstein turned out too be one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.
Young Frankenstein is about am amatomy professor who inherets the mansion of his late grave robbing grand father. After a tour he discovers his grandfather personal studies that reveal his theories on reanimation are possible. The young Dr. Frankenstein then attempts to create his own life.
Gene Wilder does a fantastic job in this movie. I love the way he plays the character in relation to the way the script is written. The jokes are very quirky like traditional comedies where you'll see a lot of overacting and quirky body movements, but gene Wilder underplays almost like he was completely unaware it was a comedy! Typically that would be a bad thing but it was a great decision it empasises the joke more making them that much more funny.
