Review of Young Frankenstein (1974) by Steff A — 21 May 2013
Slapstick and all types of audiovisual gags is the order of the day and Mel Brooks delivers. He gives us another one of his memorable spoofs that make you laugh from the first minute to the last. What I particularly liked about this one is that it was directed in the style of the Universal horror movies that it spoofed and not in the spoof style of his other movies like "Blazing Saddles" and "Silent Movie".
Gene Wilder and Marty Feldman own this movie but that's not to say that the rest of the cast isn't just as hilarious. Needless to say this is one of the best spoofs that keep it classy and intelligent all through the duration of the movie, made in a time way before stupid sex jokes dominated the whole spoof genre.
