Review of Young Frankenstein (1974) by Kurt F — 04 Mar 2011
Unquestionably in the top 5 best comedies ever made. Right there with Dr. Strangelove, Annie Hall, A Fish Called Wanda and Airplane (first films that came to mind). If there's a hundred moments in the film, maybe, MAYBE 3 of them don't hold up as well today.
Also, the more I think about it; this movies has one of the all time best casts for any movie. Gene Hackman as the Blind man, Marty Feldman as Igor (Eyegor), Teri Garr, Peter Boyle, Cloris Leachman, Kenneth Mars, Madeline Kahn and most of all Gene Wilder in what I feel was an Oscar worthy performance.
This is Mel Brooks' best film, always will be. This is one of those perfect films. "Blucher", that's all I have to say.
