Review of Young Frankenstein (1974) by Josè M — 16 Feb 2014
What else can one do with Frankenstein and his monster? Young Frankenstein is the answer in this rather better than I thought parody film. A Mel Brook film, Young Frankenstein is well casted and wonderfully performed with some subtle humor and not so subtle behavior.
I was amused by the late and great (Frank Berrone) Peter Boyle as the Frankenstein, I mean Fronckensteen, monster and Gene Wilder as Fronckensteen. The two work very well together and provide some laughs, but film is stolen by Marty Feldman as Igor.
Feldman is absolutely hilarious as the deformed demented assistant. The humor here is pretty sharp and smart which is refreshing to watch when you want to take a break from the over the top/gross out comedies.
