Review of Young Bodies Heal Quickly (2014) by Matthew S — 05 Aug 2015
Andrew T. Betzer's feature length cinematic debut is an intriguing and challenging film. After an accidental tragedy, their mother sends them away with a little money and a car.
The film defies genre and is largely experimental in narration and editing. Betzer offers more questions than answers. There is no sentiment here or comedy.
The film reminds me a bit of early work from Harmony Korine, but without the intention of shock or mock.
This is a powerful film that seems stands alone and is constantly threatening to slip and fall into unforgiving waters. Potent stuff.
