Review of Young at Heart (1987) by Priya D — 13 May 2008
This exceeded my (admittedly low) expectations. The old folk weren't all brilliant singers but they were all fantastic people. The songs were amusing--especially I wanna be Sedated (look it up on Youtube), I feel Good and Stayin' Alive.
Unfortunately, not all of them did stay alive but the film managed to get on with things without being schmaltzy. The camerawork was simple--after all, not much excitement with old folks singing but adequate.
The people themselves made the film work. It was a simple, effective tale and one well-told.
