Review of Young at Heart (1954) by Jennifer B — 24 Feb 2008
A little hard to watch. It starts out nice and cute and then goes sour... Not that I always need a sugary love story, and that I don't understand what depression is, but I honestly just didn't find it that fulfilling of a movie, my attention wandered all the way through it.
It could be that I am not as charmed by Doris Day as most other people are. It is a very good movie to show depression though, particularly considering the time period!! It shows the importance of the love of family and the sacrifice of idealistic dreams in order to have love, even if it's with someone who struggles with depression.
