I wanted to like this movie more and I get what it was trying to say but it came off as a movie written from the perspective of a high school loser who desperately wanted to get the popular girl but never ever had a chance in a million years thus this movie comes off as more of a fantasy than any attempt at a character study.

And really all it needed to change that were a few omitted scenes. I rated it this high for Charlize's performance as an embittered popular girl who is fairly successful but still very empty.
