Review of Young Adult (2011) by Miles H — 08 Dec 2012
Wonderful anti-romantic comedy with Theron giving a great, shockingly funny performance as a selfish, self absorbed, alcoholic former prom queen, hellbent on 'rescuing' her very happily married high school beau from his wife and brand new baby, who refreshingly does not undergo any redemptive process at all.
There's no place like home is a lie. Get the hell out and never return, is the film's message - which coming from Hollywood makes a nice change. It is sometimes jaw-droppingly laugh out loud funny; and never sentimental or patronising.
I can't wait to watch it again.
