Review of Young Adult (2011) by Rhys E — 17 Jan 2013

Honest and very dark, this is a film that stands out from the "feel-good" comedies that dominate cinema. Charlize Theron is brilliant as Mavis, adding some sparkle to the horrible and unlovable character that she portrays.

Patton Oswalt's performance also stands out amongst a good supporting cast. It will leave you feeling uneasy at the end, but it's definitely worth watching, just as a contrast to the clichéd material it often goes up against.
