Review of You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010) by Cody V — 27 Feb 2011
When Gemma Jones (Helena) resorts to fortune-telling as a remedy for her unhappiness, she's told "You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger." Well not quite but she does meet a middle-aged widower who's she ends up happy with.
Woody Allen reflects on love, life, infedility, and aging. Not necessarily anything new that he hasn't explored before but he has a good cast. Antonio Banderos, Naomi Watts, Josh Brolin, Freida Pinto and Anthony Hopkins all read their dialogue with Allen's mannerisms and intonations.
Lucy Punch is also pleasant to watch as the ditzy Charmaine. Critics hated this movie but, as a non-Woody Allen fan, it benefits from low expectations. There's some witty dialogue that made me laugh out loud.
