"You Were Never Really Here" (2017) is a dark, gritty adventure about a PTSD veteran turned vigilante. The style and direction is great, but it's Joaquin Phoenix's naturalistic performance that really makes the film work.
Hidden gem, but definitely not for the squeamish. Solid B+.
