Review of You Only Live Twice (2007) by Sebastian G — 28 Feb 2008
Roald Dahl should've become the Bond screen-writer, because he puts together an absolute masterpiece of a bond film. Sean Connery continues to prove why he is the essential Bond. The film itself has some amazing action and adventure sequences, some goofy one-liners and some subtle sexy ideas which make for the quintessential Bond films.
It also makes you realize how different the times are, and how much one can long for what would doubtless be considered 'cheesy' action nowadays, which to me is far more valid. The humor, the sex, and the cheap thrills make this seem so much more worth watching, whereas modernity has seen itself forced to mimick other series, this one set its own trend.
You Only Live Twice is a film that you have to watch many more times.
