Review of You Only Live Twice (2007) by Rob N — 05 Dec 2010
A gem, classic Connery as Bond, this time as our cultural ambassador in Japan. The tenor of the film is set early as Bond wakes up in Hong Kong with a Chinese girl and compares her to Peking Duck, she replies, "I make best duck" and we are off.
Having faked his own death, Bond is posted to Japan to crack the SPECTRE ambitions for the command of space and to provoke World War III in the process. Aki is cool and owns the real star of the film a spider version of the Toyota 2000GT (only made for the film) and she dies in one of the classic Bond deaths, drip fed poison.
One off the most parodied Bonds, from the Volcano base and henchmen slaughter to the amazing transformation of Connery to a Japanese. Beauty.
