Review of You Only Live Twice (2007) by Alexander C — 01 Dec 2012
I am a huge Bond fan, and I truly love each movie for what each one is. That said when I rate Bond movies, I rate them against themselves and not the entire Hollywood movie population.
You Only Live Once is unfortunately one of my least favorite if not my least favorite Bond film. The plot, even for a Bond film, is a bit far fetched. The action scenes, aside from the end, are ok at best and Connery only seems to have half his heart in the role. I can't say I blame him though considering they tried to disguise him as an Asian. Definitely #1 on the worst Bond disguises list. We do finally get to see Blofeld's elusive face at the climax of the film, which in turn is the best part of the movie. The attack by the "ninjas" on the volcano base is fun and well done. This Bond is not all bad and does have its good points as well, but when compared to what other Bond films have to offer this one (for me) is near the bottom. Final thought: If your a Bond fan you'll enjoy this flick. But if your in the mood for a Connery Bond movie on a random afternoon, choose a different one.
