Review of You Don't Know Jack (2010) by Rafael T — 21 Jan 2011
I make some time last night to finally watch this, since Pacino won a golden globe for it, and some friends talk to me nicely about it I gave it a chance... I must admit I kind of lost my faith lately on Al, but he comes back big time with this complex and very subtle performance of Jack Kevorkian, layered in many shades of gray.
A doctor who dedicate his life to assist terminal patients that want to stop suffering, and goes on a crusade to institute euthanasia and legal suicide assistance. It may not be everybodys cup of tea, but anyway you feel about it it will surely make you revise your position on it.
It's slow paced, and a bit overlong for me, but the script is well written, barry Levinson delivers a nice directing, the supporting cast works, and Pacino is outstanding.
I sure wanted him to lost that globe, since I was rooting for Edgar Ramirez, a fellow compatriot from Venezuela who was nominated for his work in Carlos... Wich I haven't been able to see...yet I can't deny the level of performance Pacino presented here... Nice movie, Great acting.
