Review of You Can't Take It with You (1938) by Calvin C — 16 Apr 2011
Best Picture winner for 1938, this Frank Capra comedy is a story about two families from two different backgrounds and social classes, learning to like each other when their kids fall in love and decide to get married. It is the classic case of wealth vs. happiness. Lionel Barrymore ultimately takes charge and has a great speech about how money will never buy love and happiness. Though the plot is a little out there, the movie made me smile throughout. It's not a memorable Best Picture when it comes to content, but it will make you feel good at the end of the day because of all the entertaining characters and make you appreciate what you already have.
Grade: A-.
