Review of You Can't Take It with You (1938) by Meta S — 08 Jan 2009
To the people on flixster, why does every movie have to start off quickly? I thought the movie paced itself perfectly. If they dived right into everything we wouldn't have gotten to meet the characters properly and the last 20 minutes of the film would have felt out of place.
I can't believe this isn't talked about more. Of course Frank Capra is a genius. There are many hilarious scenes, such as the scene where Alice and Kirby (I forget his first name) went to the restaurant and they meet the Kirby family. But this movie also shows the problems in society back in 1938, which we still face today. People are too worried about having a "normal" family, about how much money they make, and about being successful according to society's standards. I love this film!
