Review of You Can Count on Me (2000) by Jose M — 17 May 2009
Best portrayal of a brother-sister relationship ever depicted in a film. The relationship between Linney and Ruffalo's characters in this film is unstable to say the least, seeing as how both are essentially flawed people, but in spite of their many differences they are always there for one another.
This is the best role I've ever seen Mark Ruffalo in. He outshines Laura Linney (who was nominated for an Oscar for her role in this film) without question, and creates one of the more lovable losers to grace the screen in recent memory.
A very promising debut by Writer/Director Kenneth Lonergan, and a film that is certainly worthy of the praise it has been awarded.
