Review of Yojimbo (1961) by Jeremy V — 25 Feb 2008
This is a classic story in cinema at this point, especially since this movie was the inspiration for Clint Eastwood And Sergio Leone's Fistful of Dollars. Is is about a wandering samurai, played excellently by Toshiro Mifune, who stumbles into a town torn apart by two waring gangs.
He systematically sets the two gangs against each other in order to have them both eventually cancel each other out. The movie itself was well paced and the acting was very good. This movie lacked some of the cinematic finesse that Seven Samurai had, but it still packed quite a punch.
Good flick.
