Review of Yojimbo (1961) by Fraser B — 08 Feb 2009
Mifune's best role in my favorite Kurosawa film. Subverting the more traditional portrayal of on-screen samurai, Sanjuro is a scruffy, wandering ronin seemingly interested in nothing but his own personal gain.
It's just such a fun film, and Mifune plays off the other characters brilliantly throughout, culminating in an intense final showdown.
