Review of Yojimbo (1961) by Copasetic S — 25 Jun 2010
Akira Kurosawa > Sergio Leone but Toshiro Mifune = Clint Eastwood, Fistful took nearly everything, it kind of ruined it for me. Still, this version of the story is severely badass with Mifune killing it on every level, I prefer Kurosawa.
Half of the time with Leone there's tension the other half is boredom, none of that here, as it is truly engaging start to finish. It's amazing to think how far we've regressed in filmmaking in contrast to the progress of the technology given our history of iconic trailblazers like Kurosawa.
Watch Michael Bay and Keanu Reeves do a remake with helicopters and lightsabers.
