Review of Yojimbo (1961) by Ojas V — 02 Jan 2011
One of Kurosawa's most entertaining films, Yojimbo tells the story of a wandering samurai who gets caught up between two feuding clans in a small village. It is violent, and darkly comic. All of the characters develop interesting personalities, and the angled shots frame the battles quite well, although some of the fatal strikes are transperantly false by todays standards.
Although there is nothing too deep about this film, its interesting to see how the wild-west themes and eastern culture mix seamlessly.
