Review of Yojimbo (1961) by Garrett C — 31 Dec 2011
Akira Kurosawa's "Man With No Name" film is as technically brilliant as it is entertaining. Toshiro Mifune and Kurosawa team up yet again for this black comedy-noir-western set in a town where two warring sides in a small town are being taken down from within by our nameless protagonist.
The film is witty and action packed with several memorable John Ford-esque characters. The marvel of Yojimbo is that it succeeds as a crowd-pleaser and a piece of serious film through its distinctive visual style.
