Review of Yojimbo (1961) by Alexander R — 20 Mar 2012

While Seven Samurai seems to be Kurosawa's overall masterpiece, and Rashomon is his most interesting film story wise, Yojimbo is probably his most entertaining film.

Yojimbo has good acting and great action (like all of his films), but it's also surprisingly funny. It also has the best music out of the Kurosawa movie's I've seen. Toshiro Mifune as the the lone samurai is incredible in his trademark role and seeing this movie and his performance again really does show the many things that "A Fistful of Dollars" did similar, mainly the mannerisms of Toshiro Mifune's character and Clint Eastwood's character.

I think it's a smarter film and a more well made film then "A Fistful of Dollars" but both are very memorable with this being the better one.
