Review of Yojimbo (1961) by Wes M — 04 Nov 2012
As if Kurosawa would even try to let me down. It's wonderful, and for some reason I didn't even realize that this was the inspiration for A Fistful Of Dollars till it was nearly over haha. The basic plot and several scenes are exactly the same.
Why can't movies today have the heart and feeling that these old ones did? There are some action scenes, and yes, they are exquisite, but the film truly shines during the tension. I invite you to look at the film's wiki, specifically under the "Influence" section.
The Man With No Name trilogy is just one instance. This film has left its mark on dozens of films and tv shows, and will probably continue to do so for years to come.
