Review of Yojimbo (1961) by Jace L — 07 Jan 2013
An important film historically. But to be honest - it's just a samurai movie, nothing special. It ain't no Rashomon or Seven Samurai or anything. I liked the main character's character, but other than that, nothing compelled me with it at all.
It's a simpler, commercial effort than those masterpieces. The people that worship it simply because it led to those western movies -- well I don't like those either. It must be a taste thing.
