Review of Yogi Bear (2010) by Bob M — 11 Mar 2011
Whether or not you're a fan of the original Hanna-Barbera cartoon, there's really nothing here for anyone. At best, this could have been a nostalgia-inducing tribute to the original cartoon, at worst (which it pretty much is) Yogi Bear sprouts lines of dialogue like "I see you like that lady, Park Ranger.
.. you should piss on her to mark her as your territory". Add on top of that a standard "save the wildlife" plot that feels done to death recently with movies such as "Furry Vengeance".
Although the 3D effects are somewhat inventive in their execution, they aren't enough for me to even slightly recommend this movie. The only potential audience for this film could be really, really kids and there are many better films for them to see than this poorly-written and hardly acted bore-fest.
Rarely do TV-to-film transitions turn out this badly, as this film has some of the worst CGI in recent memory. Please skip and if you're a fan, stick to watching the original cartoon.
