Review of Yogi Bear (2010) by Eric H — 19 May 2011
Quite a typical kids movie. But lets not start there, lets start with the story.
The mayor has been wasting all the money the city got and is looking for a new source of income. That is when he gets the idea of cutting down The Jellystone Park, that is if the park ranger doesn't get the money the park needs to stay alive. So the race for making $30.000 in a week begins. With the help of Yogi, Bo-bo and Rachel.
That sounds a little promising, right? Nothing extraordinary but hey, its a kids movie. That shines through. Typical twists that has been seen in movies since... I don't know, like forever. The main character is trying to do something good, fails it, gets put aside by someone else, some other (similar) character gets his position and suddenly realizes that he's doing some terrible and is trying to get the former main character to get back and they will put everything back as it was before. And besides that, the main character falls in love, fails that "relationship" and the girl never wants to see him again... yadda-yadda-yadda. We've seen it so many times before.
Yogi was quite annoying, especially the voice, that's why I often put the volume down a few notches. The other characters was okay and the acting was decent, nothing spectacular.
It was a decent movie to kill off one and a half hour of a Friday evening... and I guess the kids would love it.
