Review of Yogi Bear (2010) by Kevin R — 04 Jan 2013
I'll take it from here, Mr. Ranger.
Ranger Smith has been informed by the Mayor that Jellystone Park will be sold to a logging corporation if they do not come up with a substantial amount of money in the near future. The news comes at the same time as a documentary director arrives in town to film a movie about the park. When the news travels to Yogi, he decides to help raise money to save the park but his attempts quickly appear to doom the future of the park. Can Yogi rebound to save the park or is the park as doomed as Yogi's picnic basket capers?
"You have to fight for the things you love whether it is a park, a girl, or a roast beef sandwich.".
Eric Brevig, director of Journey to the Center of the Earth, delivers Yogi Bear. The storyline for this picture is on par for the content; nothing more and nothing less. The special effects are excellent and the voices are well selected (Dan Aykroyd as Yogi and Justin Timberlake as Boo Boo). Anna Faris, T.J. Miller (She's Out of My League), Tom Cavanagh, and Andrew Daly deliver their characters adequately.
"Pretend it is a gummy worm.".
I came across this flick while flipping through the channels and decided to watch it with my daughter. It was pretty much as bad as I anticipated; however, I did enjoy the animation and the interactions between Yogi and Boo Boo. The mayor was a bit irritating, but that was likely thecharacter's intent. Overall, this picture is a below average family film.
"I am so smart it hurts.".
Grade: C-.
