Review of Yoga Hosers (2016) by Hunter L — 02 Sep 2016
In an ocean of reboots, remakes and adaptions, Yoga Hosers brings a freshly hysterical idea to a younger generation of viewers. However, loyal fans of Kevin Smith's work will find it enjoyable and a great edition to his True North Trilogy.
The film is half a parody of Canada and half a mystery about the ludicrous antagonists known as the Bratzis. There are plenty of laughs for the older folks as well as the cheesiness of a Disney horror movie for the kids.
If you're into things like Re-animator, Tusk, or Bad milo this is quite possibly the film for you. The only downfall of the movie is that most of the time, the phones used by the Colleens can be distracting.
However, when you consider the target audience, as well as the not so subtle hint of technology and the younger generation, then you will find that it's easy to disregard. Finally don't expect the movie's plot to be the foundation for this film, it's basically driven by the comical interactions by the characters and ends up in a cliche moment of the villain revealing his origin and plan.
On the upside if you can get past this, then you can really learn to appreciate this cult classic for what it is.
