Review of Yi Yi (2000) by Man G — 24 Jul 2007
Nearly 3 hours long and not a moment wasted. A simple film about an ordinary family, finding the extraordinary in the ordinary. This is modern Yasujiro Ozu. A mischievous boy, a girl beginning to understand love, a mother going through a mid-life crisis, and the husband who befriends a man from the firm his company is organising a deal with. These four human beings will each individually touch your heart in indescribably profound ways.
The best film of the decade thus far.
