Review of Yi Yi (2000) by Michael L — 24 Feb 2008
This was my second viewing of Yi Yi, and I loved it just as much as my first. So much story is conveyed even with the sparse dialog, and even though it is slow moving I can't imagine this film at any other pace.
Very meditative and amazingly shot. The performances are never pushed and I would consider this to be one of the best child performances if have ever seen. As much as I tried to keep it out of my thoughts during the film, I was brought to tears and couldn't help but think of Yang's death at the end of the film.
A very beautiful & uplifting family tale.
