Many people will disagree with my high rating, but I stand by it. Yes man is about Carl (Jim Carrey) a boring guy, who has never opened up in life, he gets dragged to a convention by his high school friend, at the convention he makes a pact to say yes to any opportunity that presents its self, he ends up falling in love with Allison (Zooey Deschanel), but when she discovers that there whole relationship may be based on a pact Carl was hesitant to commit to at first, Carl must decide how important this pact it to him, and his life.

Jim Carrey gives a great performance; he starts off playing the nice, boring, and always charismatic character he plays in the majority of his films. We see him blossom into this spontaneous character that is entreating and feels genuinely real and likeable. Jim Carrey manages to portray the boring guy and still feel likeable and relatable and also portray the over the top crazy character that is driven mad by this pact he made. Throughout the film he is funny and really has great comedic timing. This is also the most charming I have ever seen Jim Carrey, he is charming throughout the film whether he is trying to avoid any social confrontation, he is driving a homeless man 50 miles, flirting with Allison, or trying to stop a man from committing suicide.

As always Zooey Deschanel perfectly plays this whimsical and dreamy love interest. She is also really funny in this film, usually I see her being charming and flirtatious, but in this film she was really funny and always likeable. It never feels like her character wasn't developed enough, it felt more like she was mysterious and charming.

The movie also succeeds by not feeling like an over the top, unbelievable, and cliché. It always felt somewhat realistic and not over the top and trying to hard to get laughs and entertain the audience.

The film has one major flaw that is that at some moments it feels very cheesy and predictable, but in between the predictable plot there are plenty of hilarious scenes of Jim Carrey being affected by the pact. The film is not completely predictable, there are some scenes that are unexpected and the plot is original and hilarious throughout.

In the end Jim Carrey shines in this hilarious, heartfelt, charming, and for the most part smart comedy.
