Review of Yes Man (2008) by Matt B — 26 Nov 2012
Take a quick read of the synopsis and Peyton Reed's 2008 romcom sounds like typical bargain-bin trash. However, thanks to classic Jim Carey antics and sweet support from Zooey Deschanel, it's actually laugh-a-minute fun with bags of appeal and more energy than Carey himself after a Red Bull overdose.
The film's break-up-make-up narrative is frivolously formulaic, but its catalogue of well-timed gags and amusing set pieces makes for solid entertainment throughout and brings back sweet memories of Liar Liar and other Carey comedy classics.
If you're a fan of the man, this one's not to be missed.
