Review of Yes Man (2008) by Trae K — 10 Jun 2014
I'm actually shocked that many people do not seem to like/enjoy this movie at ALL, and some are even comparing this film to "Liar Liar" because of how Jim Carrey is always struggling on saying things that he does NOT want to say.
But, to tell the truth...I actually find this movie to be WAY more funnier and WAY more entertaining than that overhyped MEDIOCRITY that was "Liar Liar." That movie, in my opinion, didn't entertain nor make me laugh as much as I hoped I would, and I instead just ended up NOT caring for the movie at ALL when the end credits rolled; "Yes Man," on the other hand, is the complete OPPOSITE of that.
I saw this movie in the theater and it was a VERY fun-and-enjoyable experience for me, especially on how/when the audience laughed during most of the funny moments. Jim Carrey is pure gold at comedy..
.AND at serious acting too; he showed that with "The Truman Show" and "The Majestic" (my most favorite serious films from him), while "Yes Man," "Dumb & Dumber," and "Bruce Almighty" are my most favorite comedies from him overall.
That man can truly do ANYTHING in my opinion. Zooey Deschanel, not only do I find her to be both CUTE and HOT (and even looking SO much like Katy Perry), but she is also an INCREDIBLY talented actress/singer in general; she delivered such fine performances in both "Bridge To Terabithia" and "Elf" (I STILL never saw "(500) Days Of Summer" yet), and she continues on with this film.
And back at the time when I saw this movie in the theater, "Yes Man" also introduced me to Bradley Cooper for the first time, yet this was RIGHT before that overrated piece-of-shit film "The Hangover" came out the following summer.
I do like the dude, I think he's a very good actor in general, and he has indeed delivered such fine performances throughout these past few years (with "Silver Linings Playbook" being his very BEST film yet to date); however, I also wished that he was NEVER part with those atrocious "The Hangover" movies at ALL because, from this point on, whenever I see him in another movie, I sometimes think of "The Hangover" in my mind and I try hard NOT to.
Other than that though, to this very day, I still liked/enjoyed "Yes Man" just as much as I did when I first saw it in the theater, and I find it to be rather UNDERRATED compared to "Liar Liar.
