Review of Yellow Submarine (1968) by Adrian B — 12 Apr 2011
Though deranged, and oh do I mean incredibly deranged from start to finish, "Yellow Submarine" is a fun side trip of a film produced by one of the most famous Rock'n'Roll groups of the all time: The Beatles.
The film starts with these blue creatures or "meanies" or monsters taking over this odd universe and turning the humans into stone, except a sailor. The sailor manages to escapes on a "Yellow Submarine" and for some reason, meets up The Beatles, to whom he believes will save his universe when they sing.
Obviously this was concocted under the influence of Lucy in the Sky of Diamonds (LSD) because it is one bizarre scene after another, with a background from The Beatles. However, it is a very entertaining film and definately visual treat.
It does contain a demented plot. Definately worth more than a curious glance.
