Review of Year One (2009) by Jonny B — 04 Mar 2012
Honestly, it wasn't that bad!
For all the atrocious comedy's that have been broadcast this decade, Year One has received a hefty bunch of criticism which I believe it wasn't fully deserved of. Yes it was stupid, had very little story and was overly rude. But sometimes you just have to sit back and put your less serious side out. You never know you may just chuckle quite a lot.
Year One is a comedy which shouldn't be taken an ounce seriously; viewers should understand this when they see Jack Black and Michael Cera are in the two main characters positions.
After being banished from their tribe and told never to return Zed (Black) and Oh (Cera) travel through time across many Biblical events and are caught up in numerous awkward circumstances.
Sometimes the film is hilarious, other times you will let off a little chuckle and on other occasions you will think you're watching Disaster Movie; it's this inconsistent humor which stops Year One's rating increasing because other than the laughs there isn't really anything else it offers.
