Review of Year One (2009) by Dana D — 24 Jan 2011
Honestly, I was extremely reluctant to watch a movie that seemed to have so dumb and simple a plotline. But I watched it. Turned out the movie was dumb and simple but HILARIOUSLY FUNNY. The script wasn't even up to par, but for some reason, Michael Cera and Jack Black together was just perfect.
The way the played off each other made up for the fact that the plot was riddled with holes and excruciatingly off-color and silly references to Old Testament Biblical events and multiple points of discontinuity that caused the entire movie to be disjointed.
I was literally cracking up at Michael Cera's facial expressions. And until now I couldn't stand Jack Black. He irritated me almost as much as Alec Baldwin. But now I appreciate him. That dude is funny.
This movie was worth the watch--I got a much-needed laugh.
